Silk wrap
A Silk Wrap is a synthetic silk or fiberglass material added to the fingernail to strengthen, lengthen, or repair the nail. A silk wrap provides better flexibility than acrylic nails as it is thinner than acrylic and looks more like the natural nail. It is also healthier as the fibers allow the nail to breathe, whereas acrylic nails can sometimes form fungus underneath the nail.
A silk wrap nail procedure starts with cleaning the nails to remove any dirt under the nail and on its surface. Our nail technician then buffs the top part of the nail to smooth it out so the wrap will properly adhere. Next, the manicurist cuts the wraps to fit the nail and then applies adhesive to secure the wrap in place. After the application, the nails are buffed again until the surface is smooth. Finally, your choice of nail color is brushed on top of the wrap to ensure it doesn’t lift up.
Silk wrapped nails can be polished and manicured just like regular nails. It is very important that once the silk wrap is applied, you regularly take care of the skin and cuticle around the nail to ward off infection or overgrowth of skin onto the nail.
